We build a machine learning platform for data scientists, researchers, and quants.
With LeapYear, our customers can run analytics across all of their data, with mathematically proven protection against the extraction or reconstruction of any individual record.ย
The software we develop here is trusted to operate on extraordinarily sensitive data.ย We are deployed with the worldโs largest enterprises across financial services, healthcare, and technology.

How we work
How we work
We are parents, pet-lovers, physicists, cyclists, teachers, Haskellers, and musicians that get together five days a week to solve complex problems.
We are building LeapYear for the long-term, and we understand that this requires a great working environment, diverse perspectives, and a culture built on shared values.
Recent technical challenges we've been working on
- Developing a Spark-based query engine with strong typechecking.
- Achieving terabyte and petabyte scale on Spark.
- Refactoring our persistence layer.
- Using Haskell to implement enterprise-ready subsystems for authentication, permissioning, job management, and logging.
- Extending the platform to support automated daily data updates.
Our values as interviewers:
- We make evidence-based hiring decisions (Interviews are standardized, cognitive biases are avoided)
- We prefer face-to-face time with you (Zoom calls over phone calls)
- We minimize the difference between interviews and real work (Code reviews and design exercises, not whiteboard coding)
- You deserve to know what to expect at every stage
Typical interview process:
- Technical screen +
- call with hiring manager
- On-site interview
